The 2022 annual California FFA State Leadership Conference wrapped up – in person – for the first time in two years. Thousands of young people from all across California gathered for the conference which was held in Sacramento‚ the nation’s Farm-to-Fork capital, for the first time since 1929. Throughout the week I enjoyed seeing young people donning their iconic blue corduroy jackets as they were encouraged to explore the state’s Capitol and connect with their respective elected officials about the importance of agriculture.
Being from a big agriculture community in Lassen County‚ my family has been very involved in Future Farmers of America (FFA). When my kids participated in FFA‚ the experience taught them about leadership‚ serving their community‚ and working with their peers. FFA teaches students about where our food comes from‚ something that many children and adults today do not have a grasp on. I’m proud to be a supporter of this program‚ and I’m proud of the students who have given this program their all.
