Recently my staff traveled to Siskiyou County to connect with local community leaders on my behalf. Senior Field Representative based in Redding, California, Alice Bennett, met with Superintendent John Ray to view the temporary school site they created while demolition and construction are in progress on their new school.
We were also able to acquire a replacement resolution for the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department in honor of former Sheriff Byrd, the first African-American sheriff in the state of California. The original resolution was presented to the Sheriff’s Department in 2002 by the Assemblyperson in office at the time. To finish the trip, my staff met with Siskiyou County CAO, Angela Davis, to get an update on what’s going on in Siskiyou County and preparations for fire season.
