I recently had the opportunity to sit down with staff from Big Brothers Big Sisters of California during their advocacy day. They shared moving stories about their experiences as mentors and gave an overview of their legislative priorities for the year.
Big Brothers Big Sisters has mentored over 20,000 youth in the past five years alone and engaged nearly 21,000 volunteers across California. They positively impact the lives of youth experiencing ACE’s (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and have seen results such as 81% improved school attendance in their mentees.
