Recognizing Educators in Lassen County, Shasta Dam Tours Open to Public, and More

Greetings,

This week, Team Dahle attended the 1st Annual Lassen County Educator Gala, recognizing the best and brightest in education in the Lassen County area.

Hosted on the Lassen Community College campus, the event gathered educators, administrators, community partners, volunteers, and more. Superintendent Gunderson individually honored each award recipient and concluded the evening by recognizing Diamond View Middle School for receiving California’s prestigious Distinguished School Award for 2024. This award places Diamond View Middle School in the top 4% of all schools in the state of California–an incredible accomplishment that reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire staff, students, and families of Diamond View.

From everyone on Team Dahle, we congratulate you on this outstanding achievement.

The entire evening highlighted the value of collaboration between community organizations and individuals. Our students are our most important priority, and it requires everyone working together to help them succeed. Thank you to Superintendent Gunderson for extending the invitation to our office. It is a joy to celebrate those who are responsible for shaping the minds of our future generations. Thank you for all you do.

Burney Commons Ribbon Cutting

New Housing in Burney

This week, Team Dahle attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Burney Commons, Burney’s newest housing complex developed by K2 Development Companies. Opened in the fall of 2023, Burney Commons consists of 30 units, including one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. Each unit includes luxury vinyl plank flooring, quartz countertops, high-efficiency HVAC systems, and high-end finishes. The complex also offers a community room, playground, and landscaped common areas, providing quality affordable living for local residents.

Team Dahle is pleased to recognize K2 Development Companies, the County of Shasta, and local organizations who made this project possible. This is another significant step in addressing California’s housing shortage, and it is especially encouraging to see federal and state Housing & Community Development dollars being invested in projects like these in the 1st Assembly District. Local organizations involved in this project have demonstrated tremendous dedication and hard work to ensure our rural area benefits from available resources. We have an impressive community of people who care deeply about solving problems and improving the quality of life in our region.

Thank you to all involved in this project, and congratulations on this remarkable achievement. Learn more about this project at BurneyCommons.com.

New 837 Area Code Coming to 530 Region

New 837 Area Code Coming to 530 Region

The 530 area code region will soon be seeing a new 837 area code added as an overlay starting January 31, 2025.

Due to high demand for new telephone numbers in the 530 area, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved the implementation of this new area code overlay in June 2023. Starting January 31, 2025, new telephone numbers in the 530 region may be assigned an 837 area code. It’s important to note that existing telephone numbers will not change.

To prepare for this change, customers should continue to identify their phone number as a 10-digit number (area code + telephone number) and update all relevant materials and devices accordingly. This includes business stationery, advertising materials, contact lists, and automated dialing equipment.

Key facts to remember:

  • Telephone numbers, including the current area code, will not change.
  • The cost of calls, coverage area, and other rates and services will remain the same.
  • Local calls will still be local calls.
  • Customers will dial 1+10 digits for local and long-distance calls within and between the overlay area codes.
  • Three-digit dialing for emergency and informational services (e.g., 911, 988) will not change.

The 530 area code serves a large portion of northeastern California, covering counties such as Butte, El Dorado, Lassen, Shasta, and more. Communities in this area include Chico, Davis, Redding, South Lake Tahoe, and Yuba City. For more information, please contact your telephone service provider or visit the CPUC’s website. Thank you for your attention to this important update.
