Shelly Fire in Siskiyou County‚ Lassen Links‚ and More

Greetings‚

Team Dahle has continued to stay in close contact with local officials regarding the conditions on the Shelly Fire impacting the city of Etna and the Scott Valley. Staff attended the Community Meeting in Etna‚ where the U.S. Forest Service‚ Cal Fire‚ Siskiyou County Supervisors‚ the Siskiyou County Sheriff‚ and Office of Emergency Services briefed the public on firefighting efforts‚ evacuation zone information‚ and took questions from the community.

As of 7/19/2024‚ the Shelly Fire is 15‚460 acres with 18% containment. There are 2‚958 personnel assigned to the incident. Get updated information on the Shelly Fire – including the Evacuation Zone Map – here.

In light of the ongoing fire season‚ it’s crucial for everyone to be prepared for potential evacuations and to stay safe. As a reminder‚ here is some essential wildfire safety and preparedness information:

Have a Go Bag Ready: Prepare a go bag with important documents (e.g.‚ IDs‚ insurance papers‚ property deeds)‚ medications‚ pet supplies‚ and other necessities such as clothing‚ water‚ and non-perishable food.

Sign Up for Emergency Alerts: Ensure you are signed up for local emergency alerts to receive timely updates on fire conditions and evacuation orders.

Keep Your Car’s Gas Tank Full: In case of an evacuation‚ having a full gas tank will ensure you can leave quickly without needing to stop for fuel.

Follow Evacuation Orders: Always evacuate when law enforcement or fire officials say to. Staying behind can put you and first responders in danger.

Plan Evacuation Routes: Know multiple evacuation routes from your home in case one is blocked by fire or traffic.

Stay Informed: Regularly check for updates from reliable sources such as Cal Fire‚ local news‚ and emergency management agencies.

By taking these precautions‚ you can help ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones during wildfire season. Stay safe and prepared.

Lassen Links: A One-Stop-Shop for Resources in Lassen County

Yesterday Team Dahle traveled to Lassen County to meet with individuals in the Susanville area. Thank you to Ronda Hall for sitting down with us to discuss Lassen Links‚ an innovative solution that connects residents with much needed available resources in their community. Upon realizing the need for streamlined access to available resources extended beyond their initial clientele‚ Hall and team created Lassen Links to adapt to the growing needs of the communities they serve. Lassen Links is a growing network of local organizations serving children and families through collaborative community services‚ supports‚ and resources‚ focusing on coordinated home visiting and other developmental resources to meet the needs of children and families.

We believe in “Raising Rural Voices‚” which means amplifying both the challenges and benefits of living in rural areas‚ a way of life for those of us in the 1st Assembly District. The stories Ronda shared exemplify the heart and ingenuity of rural residents‚ and are important for our state legislators to be aware of when creating policies that impact urban and non-urban areas alike.

California Assisted Living Association Meeting at Assemblywoman Dahle Redding office

California Assisted Living Association Meeting

Team Dahle recently engaged in an insightful discussion with Karen Slinkard and Sue McPherson from the California Assisted Living Association (CALA)‚ whose mission is to support Assisted Living‚ Memory Care‚ and Continuing Care Retirement Communities in elevating and enriching the lives of residents. Our meeting’s focus was on the growing demand for assisted living‚ memory care‚ and continuing care in California‚ driven by shifting demographics.

With the California Master Plan for Aging projecting that by 2030‚ 10.8 million Californians will be older adults, making up one-quarter of the state’s population‚ meetings like this are essential to address our communities’ pressing needs. A big thank you to Karen and Sue for their time and insights. Discover more about CALA here.

EcoFlight: Wildland & Watershed Conservation

Last month‚ my staff participated in one of EcoFlight’s tours of our district’s wildlands and wetlands‚ focusing on what is needed for conservation of these environments. With some of the most rural areas in California‚ the 1st Assembly District encompasses a great deal of wildlife‚ which cohabitates with our constituents. These animals are an integral component of the area’s environment.

The opportunity provided by the Wildlands Network via EcoFlight allowed us to view wildlife crossings from the air in Plumas County. The flight toured several existing crossings as well as proposed future areas. Preservation efforts have successfully brought back several species that had not been present in California for a hundred years.

Thank you to EcoFlight for the informative tour as we continue to create policies to ensure areas like the 1st Assembly District are stewarded well. Learn more about EcoFlight here.
