California’s Unemployment Rate Reaches 5.3%

California’s Unemployment Rate Reaches 5.3%

California’s unemployment rate has increased to 5.3%‚ tying us for the second-highest rate in the country‚ according to a recent report from the Legislative Analyst’s Office – the California Legislature’s Nonpartisan Fiscal & Policy Advisor. This rise highlights ongoing challenges businesses face with high taxes and strict regulations‚ which continue to affect job growth.

While these numbers are concerning‚ my office remains focused on supporting policies that reduce unnecessary barriers for businesses and help create more opportunities for Californians.

If you have any questions or need assistance‚ please feel free to contact my office. You can also view the full report from the Legislative Analyst’s office here.

California Driver’s Licenses Can Now Be Added to Apple Wallet

California Driver’s Licenses Can Now Be Added to Apple Wallet

California residents can now add their driver’s licenses or state IDs to Apple Wallet as part of the DMV’s mobile driver’s license (mDL) pilot program. This new feature allows individuals to securely store and present their IDs using an iPhone or Apple Watch. The pilot program is currently limited to 1.5 million participants‚ offering a digital alternative to the physical ID card.

To add a license or ID‚ users can tap the “+” button in Apple Wallet‚ select “Driver’s License or State ID‚” and follow the instructions to complete the setup process. This includes scanning the physical ID‚ taking a selfie‚ and undergoing additional security steps for verification.

For more information and details on how to participate in the mDL pilot program‚ click here.

I-80 Corridor Vegetation Management

I-80 Corridor Vegetation Management Meeting

Last month‚ Team Dahle joined local and state agencies to discuss ongoing vegetation management along the I-80 corridor in Placer County. Supervisor Gustafson led the meeting with representatives from Cal Fire‚ CHP‚ Caltrans‚ Placer Sierra Fire Safe Council‚ and the US Forest Service. The goal is to reduce fire risks‚ especially from semi-truck brake fires‚ through coordinated efforts that will continue into next year. The meeting also explored opportunities for future legislation and education to help prevent highway closures.

The North State is all too familiar with the devastating impact of wildfires‚ and we are deeply grateful to our first responders and all those working tirelessly to mitigate fire risks. Special thanks to this group for their innovative efforts to protect our communities and keep our highways safe. Learn more about this initiative here.
