Assemblymember Hadwick Recognizes Placer County Sheriff’s Office for 175 Years of Service

Sacramento, CA (April 30, 2026) —Today, Assemblywoman Hadwick (R-Alturas) recognized the Placer County Sheriff’s Office for 175 years of dedicated service to the communities of Placer County.

“Sheriffs are the backbone of public safety in our communities, and Placer County exemplifies that commitment,” said Assemblywoman Hadwick. “For 175 years, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office has delivered essential services to nearly 500,000 residents, upholding the highest standards of integrity, courage, and excellence.”

To honor this milestone, the Assemblymember invited Placer County Sheriff Wayne Woo and Undersheriff Shayne Wright to be her guests of honor on the California State Assembly Floor.

Placer County is also celebrating its 175th anniversary, and a resolution commemorating this milestone will be presented to the County at a future Board meeting.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office employs more than 600 people, including approximately 250 sworn peace officers. They provide law enforcement services across an area about the size of Rhode Island, serving the communities from West Roseville, to Loomis, Colfax, and extending into North Lake Tahoe.

Sheriff Wayne Woo, who was elected in 2022, serves as the 29th Sheriff of Placer County. He has dedicated more than three decades to public service in law enforcement and has been with the agency since 1994.

“It’s an honor to represent the men and women of the Placer County Sheriff’s Office as we mark 175 years of service,” said Sheriff Woo. “This milestone is really about the people, those who came before us and those serving now, who show up every day to protect this community. We’re proud of the foundation they’ve built, and we’re committed to continuing that work for generations to come.”
