Good afternoon-
With wildfires on the forefront of our minds in the 1st Assembly District, I wanted to use this opportunity to provide you with some additional resources for wildfire preparedness and recovery that you may not be aware of.

- Evacuation Checklist for Policyholders – If you find yourself facing evacuation, the Department of Insurance has compiled tips for what to have prepared to take with you in addition to your regular “go bag” content.
- Top 10 Tips for Wildfire Claimants – The Department of Insurance has outlined the top ten pieces of information that are most important for those filing a claim after a wildfire. Review them using the link above in order to prepare your household in the event of a wildfire.
My staff and I continue to monitor the active fires in our district, and maintain contact with local leaders about how we can best help.
Assemblywoman Megan Dahle
Shasta County It is always good to check in with our educators. On Monday, my staff met with Judy Flores, Shasta County Superintendent of Schools, Adam Hillman, Associate Superintendent and Jodie Vanornum, Senior Executive Director Human Resources at SCOE to get a status update on needs they see in the realm of education and school staffing. On Wednesday, my staff discussed recruitment and retention of qualified staff and barriers for rural counties with Sierra County Superintendent of Schools, James Berardi. These conversations are incredibly important to shaping our rural education systems through the legislative process. I am grateful for the time these local leaders take to meet with my staff and I throughout the year. Photo: Shasta County Office of Education
Mosquito Fire Update* On Sunday, September 11th, my staff attended the Cooperator’s Meeting for the Mosquito Fire at the Placer County Fairgrounds in Roseville. The fairgrounds are being utilized by the organizations within the Unified Command of CAL FIRE Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit, CAL FIRE Amador- El Dorado Unit, USFS Tahoe National Forest, El Dorado National Forest, Foresthill Fire Protection District, and El Dorado County and Placer County Sheriff’s Office to help manage the fire. As of Sunday, Unified Command had approximately 10% containment** and was cautiously optimistic with the forecast of the weather, but concerned about the fire behavior. Current updates on the status of the fire can be found here. *Last week we covered Coyote, Mill, Mountain, and Mosquito Fires. Find information from last week’s newsletter here, and information about the Barnes Fire in Modoc County here. **As of Friday, September 16th the Mosquito Fire has reached 20% containment. Nevada Couny This week, my staff met with Chief Jim Turner and Division Chief Patrick Sullivan from Nevada County Consolidated Fire District, and Chief Don Wagner from Penn Valley Fire Protection District at the Penn Valley Fire Station to discuss the realities of having special fire districts and how we can be more successful in the future. The chiefs shared their breadth of experience while advocating for rural entities like themselves who are facing insurmountable challenges in serving their constituency. Photo: Cal Fire
