Park Fire and Wildfire Preparedness

Greetings‚

Team Dahle has been closely monitoring the conditions of the Park Fire‚ which‚ although not currently burning in the 1st Assembly District‚ is very close and poses a significant threat. The rapid growth of this fire over just a few days is alarming‚ especially for an area already severely impacted by past wildfires. Our thoughts are with those affected‚ and we urge everyone in the vicinity to be prepared and know their evacuation zones.

As of 7/26/2024‚ the Park Fire is 178‚090 acres with 0% containment. There are over 1‚600 personnel assigned to the incident. Get updated information on the Park Fire – including the Evacuation Zone Map – here.

In light of the ongoing fire season‚ it is crucial for everyone to be prepared for potential evacuations and to stay safe. Here are some essential wildfire safety and preparedness tips:

Have a Go Bag Ready: Prepare a go bag with important documents (e.g.‚ IDs‚ insurance papers‚ property deeds)‚ medications‚ pet supplies‚ and other necessities such as clothing‚ water‚ and non-perishable food.

Sign Up for Emergency Alerts: Ensure you are signed up for local emergency alerts to receive timely updates on fire conditions and evacuation orders.

Keep Your Car’s Gas Tank Full: In case of an evacuation‚ having a full gas tank will ensure you can leave quickly without needing to stop for fuel.

Follow Evacuation Orders: Always evacuate when law enforcement or fire officials say to. Staying behind can put you and first responders in danger.

Plan Evacuation Routes: Know multiple evacuation routes from your home in case one is blocked by fire or traffic.

Stay Informed: Regularly check for updates from reliable sources such as Cal Fire‚ local news‚ and emergency management agencies.

By taking these precautions‚ you can help ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones during wildfire season. Stay safe and prepared.

Lake Tahoe Legislative Trip Yolanda 2024

Meeting at Lake Tahoe

Team Dahle recently met with State of Nevada legislators to discuss mutual interests between Nevada and California regarding the preservation of Lake Tahoe. Key topics included managing the increase in tourism and its associated challenges‚ such as traffic and trash‚ as well as addressing the growing housing crisis‚ which is particularly acute in this area.

The visit included a boat tour‚ culminating in discussions about the “BeBot‚” a machine designed to aid in litter cleanup. The BeBot operates like a sand sifter propelled by tracked treads‚ moving along the sand and scooping it up a few inches deep. As the sand is brought over the sifter‚ it shakes to release the sand while retaining any debris.

We also had a productive meeting with staff from Keep Tahoe Blue to explore innovative ways to preserve our beautiful lake.

Thank you to all who contributed to this tour. We are dedicated to supporting the communities in our district in any way we can and were glad to be part of this important initiative.

“The Landing” Project in Siskiyou County

On July 10‚ Team Dahle joined the City of Mt. Shasta‚ Siskiyou County‚ and The Siskiyou EDC to celebrate the successful culmination of years of diligent work with the EPA to clean up a former mill site‚ locally known as The Landing. This significant moment highlighted the history and leadership that have been integral to this project‚ including over 20 years of investment from the EPA to remove contamination from the site.

During the event‚ we recognized three distinguished Mt. Shasta leaders for their unwavering dedication to the community and their pivotal roles in the transformation of the 127-acre site:

  • Muriel Howarth Terrell‚ City Finance Director
  • Ted Marconi‚ Retired City Manager
  • Tom Hesseldenz‚ Founder of Siskiyou Land Trust and Co-founder of Mt. Shasta Trail Association

Their combined efforts have paved the way for a brighter future for Mt. Shasta‚ demonstrating the power of collaboration and long-term commitment to environmental and community health.

Conservation League 40 Acre Tour Yolanda 2024

Forest Ecology Tour in Placer County

In the Placer County hills lies 600 acres of timberland‚ featuring 30 acres of lake, nine miles of trails‚ and spectacular cliffside views overlooking a beautiful valley. Team Dahle attended a tour hosted by the 40 Acre Conservation League to showcase their plans for restoring forest ecology and improving public access.

The event‚ which highlighted a partnership with the California Conservation Corps on vegetation management‚ began with a warm welcome from 40 Acre Conservation League Board President Jade Stevens. Attendees included Placer County Board of Supervisors Cindy Gustafson and Shanti Landon‚ along with legislators from the Los Angeles area.

This gathering underscored the commitment to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the area‚ emphasizing the importance of collaboration in achieving ecological sustainability and community enjoyment.
