Last Week of Legislative Session: Opposing Senate Bill 950 and More

Greetings‚

We are in the last days of the California State Legislature’s session for the year and many bills are coming up for a vote–some good‚ but others very concerning. I’ll be in session late tonight and tomorrow‚ and you can watch live here.

One of the problematic bills is Senate Bill 950‚ which is a misguided attempt to impose more costs on consumers‚ driving up gas prices and hurting our communities. My colleagues and I took action by signing a letter to the Governor opposing this bill and urging him to focus on real solutions that help‚ not harm‚ Californians. If you’d like to read the letter my colleagues and I wrote‚ click here.

In a positive development‚ Senate Bill 94 has been defeated. This is a significant victory for public safety‚ ensuring that some of California’s most dangerous offenders will remain behind bars‚ keeping our communities safer. I want to thank the district attorneys‚ law enforcement‚ Crime Victims United‚ and the victims’ families who stood strong against this dangerous legislation. However‚ we must stay vigilant‚ as there may be attempts to bring this bill back next year.

I’ll include more information about these end-of-session bills and the outcomes in next week’s newsletter. Thank you for your continued support.

Celebrating the New Women’s Health Center in Grass Valley

Western Sierra Medical Clinic recently celebrated the opening of its new Women’s Health Center in Grass Valley. For nearly fifty years‚ Western Sierra Medical Clinic has been a cornerstone of care in Nevada‚ Sierra‚ and Placer Counties. The new facility‚ located next to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital‚ offers convenient access to a full range of women’s health services‚ including obstetrics‚ gynecology‚ midwifery‚ and newborn care.

This 4‚000-square-foot center will help address the growing community need for maternity and women’s health services‚ especially in light of recent retirements among local medical professionals‚ including OBGYNs.

Team Dahle was honored to be part of the celebration‚ with Field Representative Yolanda Cookson presenting a certificate on behalf of Senator Brian Dahle and myself to Western Sierra Medical Clinic’s CEO‚ Jenn Malone. We are proud to support this important expansion of healthcare services in our community.

Equitable Access to Healthcare: Discussing the Physician Shortage

Recently‚ Team Dahle met with local medical professionals to discuss the growing doctor shortage impacting our communities. We discussed their ideas for potential solutions‚ including ways to attract and retain more healthcare providers in our region‚ and looked at opportunities for collaboration. This is just the start of an important conversation‚ and we are eager to continue these discussions to support equitable access to healthcare for everyone in our communities. We are committed to addressing this critical issue and look forward to finding meaningful ways to benefit our residents.

Protect Yourself from Scams: Important Information for Our Community

Our office has recently heard from several constituents‚ especially seniors‚ who are having trouble distinguishing between legitimate offers and scams. We want to provide some helpful information on this topic to keep you and your loved ones safe. Please feel free to pass this on to anyone who may find it useful.

Scammers often use junk mail‚ spam emails‚ and unsolicited calls to trick people into giving away their personal information or money. These scams can take many forms‚ such as fake product advertisements‚ phishing emails‚ prize offers‚ and telemarketing fraud. Here are some common signs of scams and tips to avoid being fooled:

  • Phishing Emails: Be wary of emails that create a false sense of urgency or contain generic greetings like “Dear Customer.” Never click on suspicious links or provide personal information in response to unsolicited emails. If in doubt‚ contact the company directly using a verified phone number or website.
  • Text Spam: Scammers may send text messages claiming you’ve won a prize or offering products at suspiciously low prices. Do not click on links or provide personal information in response to these messages.
  • Unsolicited Calls: Be cautious of calls from numbers that look similar to your own. Scammers may also pose as charities‚ especially after a disaster‚ asking for donations. Always verify the legitimacy of the organization before sending money

For more detailed information on common scams and how to protect yourself‚ visit the California Attorney General’s website here.

We encourage you to stay vigilant and share this information with others who may benefit. If you believe you’ve been targeted by a scam‚ please report it and seek assistance.
