This Week: Shasta College Truck Driving Program and More

Good afternoon‚

My staff toured the Shasta College Truck Driving Program on Wednesday afternoon. They had the opportunity to observe students participating in the program and discuss the program with Truck Diving Instructor‚ Clancy Mitchell.

Shasta College is a registered training provider for entry level driver training requirements and is one of only three public entities which provide this service in the state. The Shasta College Truck Driving Program is an accelerated approach to earning a California Commercial Driver’s License.

Students come to the program from a large geographic region across Northern California and Southern Oregon. The first eight weeks of the program is offered online as theory classes and the second session is an eight week practical course‚ which requires students to be on campus twice a week. The program has several truck driving simulators which allow students the opportunity to get comfortable with the skills required of the driving systems prior to getting behind the wheel of one of the Shasta College trucks. Learn more about the Shasta College Truck Driving Program here.
