Greetings‚
This past week‚ the California Chamber of Commerce (CalChamber) released its annual legislative scorecard‚ which highlights key votes of representatives on legislation affecting the well-being of employers and California’s small businesses (you can find it here). I am proud to have received a rating of 100% for voting in alignment with the California Chamber of Commerce – and more importantly‚ with the business community.
Surprisingly‚ in 2023, more legislators scored a 0% with the business community than we’ve seen in nearly two decades. Despite this being the first year of the legislative session‚ CalChamber highlighted the passage of several bills with significant issues. Considering the ongoing challenges faced by businesses recovering from COVID-19‚ their extensive network of over 10‚000 small business members has voiced deep concerns about the policy direction taken by the majority of the legislature last year. They’re eager to engage more assertively in both proactive and reactive capacities in 2024. Read the full article from the California Chamber of Commerce here.
As a businesswoman and entrepreneur‚ supporting California’s business community within and beyond the legislative arena has always been a priority for me. I remain committed to voting in favor of business-friendly policies that uplift‚ rather than hinder‚ our business community. This commitment was evident as I stood alongside fellow business men and women in rallying against SB 553 earlier this year.
While we wait for the legislative session to resume‚ I’d like to invite you to nominate a deserving business in your community for our office’s monthly business awards‚ starting in the new year. It’s a small gesture from my team and me to recognize those who truly form the backbone of our communities-our local businesses. You can access the nomination form on my website here.
