This Week: 4th of July Travel Advisory‚ Tahoe Delegation Tour and More

Greetings‚

I hope you have a wonderful 4th of July weekend. Below you’ll find a list of a few events happening in the 1st Assembly District for those of you looking to celebrate this important holiday in your community.

Independence Day weekend is also one of the most heavily trafficked holidays on the water. If you’re a first time boater‚ especially‚ take time to educate yourself on the importance of safe and responsible boating. Click here to find boating safety on the CA Department of Parks’ website.

Please remember to follow your local ordinances pertaining to fireworks to help keep our communities safe. Happy 4th of July!

Peace Officers AwardsPeace Officer of the Year Awards in Shasta County

Yesterday‚ I had the opportunity to deliver the keynote speech at the Peace Officer of the Year awards in Shasta County‚ an event hosted by the Redding Exchange Club. This marked their 49th successful year of hosting this remarkable event‚ while also celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Redding Exchange Club’s commitment to recognizing peace officers. To express our gratitude for their exceptional work‚ Congressman LaMalfa and I pleasantly surprised the Redding Exchange Club with certificates of recognition.

Each day‚ our law enforcement officers courageously put their lives on the line to ensure the safety of our communities. It brings me great pride to offer my unwavering support to these brave men and women‚ as well as their families. It was a pleasure for my staff and me to journey from Sacramento to acknowledge those who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty. Congratulations to this year’s deserving award recipients!

Gas Tax IncreaseGas Tax Increase

Ahead of this holiday weekend‚ I wanted to provide you with a public service announcement that California’s gas tax will go up 8% this Saturday‚ July 1st. The annual gas tax increase will take effect despite our continued efforts to call on Governor Newsom and our colleagues in the legislature to stop the annual gas tax increase. California is ranked #2 in the highest gas prices in the US. With the continued financial strain facing families across the state‚ we are reaching out to keep you informed of this upcoming price hike in order for you and your family to plan accordingly ahead of any holiday travel. This added expense comes just as a recent survey cited by the Los Angeles Times found that more than 40% of Californians are considering leaving the state‚ and 80% said that they are unhappy with the daily costs associated with living in California. This year‚ AAA estimates that a record breaking 50.7 million Americans are set to travel at least 50 miles from home during the long weekend. If you are planning on traveling for the 4th of July‚ you may want to consider gassing up your vehicles ahead of the July 1st increase. As always‚ we continue to keep you and your family’s well-being at the top of mind while working on your behalf here in Sacramento.

Tahoe TourTahoe Delegation Tour

Last week‚ Team Dahle joined Supervisor Brooke Laine on a tour in Tahoe. The event brought together a diverse group of attendees who shared a common goal of preserving and enhancing the Tahoe region.

The tour brought together professionals from various backgrounds‚ including representatives from the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency‚ California Tahoe Conservancy‚ League to Save Lake Tahoe‚ North Tahoe Public Utility District and CAL FIRE. Their expertise and unique perspectives fostered valuable discussions regarding the pressing issues facing Tahoe. We extend our appreciation to Supervisor Brooke Laine for organizing this informative event and to all the participants for their valuable contributions.
