This Week: Legislation Moves Forward‚ In the District‚ and More

Greetings‚

I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July. Today I have an update for you on the progress of my legislation‚ as several bills I authored this year have made significant progress in the legislative process. Here’s where they are currently:

AB 1722: School nurses play a vital part in our schools and to our students. This bill aims to remove barriers to fill these vital positions with qualified candidates‚ especially in rural areas where hiring can be especially challenging. AB 1722 passed recently out of the Senate Education Committee.

AB 1402: This bill aims to address the financial burden faced by victims of child abuse or neglect in obtaining medical evidentiary exams‚ and it recently passed out of the Senate Public Safety Committee. It marks an important step toward providing the necessary support during difficult times.

AB 715: This bill aims to tackle the unique challenges faced by rural communities in our education system. I am pleased to share that it has passed out of the Senate Education Committee‚ signifying our commitment to addressing the specific needs of these communities and promoting equal opportunities for all students.

AB 1342: This bill‚ which aims to update the eligibility requirements for the California College Promise fee waiver‚ has passed off the Senate Floor and now awaits the signature of the Governor. We eagerly anticipate his approval‚ as it will bring about positive changes to ensure broader access to higher education.

I look forward to sharing further positive news about their progress in the coming weeks.

Senator Dahle and Assemblywoman Dahle celebrate July 4thIn the District for 4th of July

It was a wonderful experience celebrating the 4th of July in the district alongside many of you. Senator Dahle and I had a great time participating in both Burney Basin Days and the Chester 4th of July parade. Being able to connect with the people we are privileged to serve was truly special. It provided a refreshing break from the lengthy days spent in Sacramento‚ engaging in debates and voting on legislation.

As the session draws to a close‚ I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to spend more time in the district with all of you. Your continued support and engagement are invaluable‚ and I look forward to further strengthening our bond.

Sierra CountySierra County

My Field Representative‚ Yolanda Cookson‚ recently visited Downieville to honor the remarkable career of Tim Beals‚ the Director of Public Works‚ Transportation‚ and Planning for Sierra County. After dedicating 50 years of service to the community‚ Mr. Beals officially retired from his position on July 5‚ 2023. The retirement celebration was attended by his family‚ friends‚ colleagues‚ and grateful residents‚ all of whom joined in recognizing Tim Beals’ outstanding contributions.

He received numerous accolades and acknowledgments‚ including a Resolution from the California Legislature presented on behalf of myself and Senator Brian Dahle. Tim’s lifelong commitment to the small rural community of Downieville serves as a shining example of how a single individual can profoundly impact their surroundings. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to Tim Beals for his dedicated service‚ and we offer our warmest congratulations on his well-deserved retirement!
